Kia Weatherspoon, ASID, CID, IIDA, NCIDQ, D.F.A (h.c) is a nationally celebrated interior designer and founder of Determined by Design®, the nation’s only firm dedicated to Design Equity®. Recognized as one of the most influential designers of her generation, Kia has redefined what luxury means by making design a human right, not a privilege.

Her journey from hardship to leadership shaped her philosophy that every person deserves beauty, dignity, and softness in the spaces they call home. Under her vision, Determined by Design® has transformed housing and community projects across the country, prompting developers and institutions to reimagine how design serves people.

Kia’s impact has earned her some of the industry’s highest honors, including ICFF Designer of the Year, an Honorary Doctorate from the New York School of Interior Design, and the ASID National Design for Humanity Award.

More than a designer, she is an advocate, educator, and disruptor who challenges the industry to build with empathy and equity at its core.
